I made the corned beef (using Guinness) exactly as written and cooked it for 6 hours on the stove top. I then removed the meat (which fell apart) and added 3 pounds quartered new potatoes, two pounds baby carrots (cut in half) and an onion. I permit that cook for 20 minutes and then added a head of cabbage. I cooked an boosted 15 minutes. Then I removed the veggies and made a gravy out of the leftover stock using a slurry of stock and corn starch. This recipe was a huge hit last dark for our St. Patrick's Day get together. Very authentic tasting and the peppercorns get soft as they cook, so when you bite into one, you get a nice boot without existence overly powerful or chipping your teeth. This volition be our annual tradition!

Wish in that location were more than 5 stars considering this recipe deserves a 10. Wife was in the hospital and I was fending for myself when I tried this. Put two briskets in the crockpot and headed off to work. Stopped at the cafeteria and got some cole slaw and Swiss cheese on the way home from work, and concluded upwards wishing I had cooked twice every bit much. Took a couple of Large sandwiches to work the side by side twenty-four hours, and my coworkers forced me to share once they got a whiff. Kept request the name of the cafeteria where I bought it, and couldn't believe I made it myself. Well, here are your 10 stars from me and my office * * * * * * * * * *

The corporeality of peppercorns listed in the ingredients has been inverse from 1/4 teaspoon to 1/iv cup, at the asking of the recipe submitter. - The Staff

This was so piece of cake and delicious! I used both spice packets that came with the briskets and put everything into a slow cooker set on low for 10 hours. The liquid remains red because of the nature of corned beef -- this does not mean information technology's not cooked. It is done when it is fork-tender. I likewise poured the leftover cooking liquid into a pot on the stovetop and boiled cabbage in it; it gave the cabbage really adept flavor.

Wowee! Very very proficient. I threw everything in the crockpot before work, when I came dwelling we had an awesome meal. I'm thinking I'll never simply eddy another slab of corned beef in h2o once again.
11/11/2006
Was happily surprised past this recipe! Information technology was very easy to perpare when y'all pop it all in the crock pot and just let information technology go all day. Nosotros concluded up cooking it about 10 hours, and it was so tender, easy to shred for sandwiches. Non extremely salty, the mode I ordinarily think brisket tastes. We toasted the rolls, added swiss cheese and habitation fabricated thou island dressing from this site--Delicious! Will definitely be going to this one a lot through the colder months peculiarly. Glad we did 2 briskets, cause one certainly would not accept been enough. Thanks!

My hubby likes to eat, but information technology is hard to go him to critiqe anything I make. I ever get "its fine" or "its Ok". Well, this corned beef fabricated him mutter a few expletives while going "Oh my God! " Case closed, perfect recipie! *Hint: Used Dundees Honey blond beer, gave information technology a good flavour!*
03/18/2008
Thriftynin--I'm non sure why you reviewed my recipe when you lot didn't make my recipe! Leaving out the beer and peppercorns is eliminating a cracking deal of flavor, so I'chiliad non surprised that you said it was lacking in season. If you're worried almost the alcohol, it cooks off and leaves behind the hops, yeast, etc. that give beer its flavor and these are imparted into the meat.
04/28/2007
I've made this twice now and followed the recipe to a "T". This is ane of the few things in life that I want to continue to consume long afterwards I'one thousand total. Information technology is THAT proficient! We'll never accept "apparently ol'" corned beefiness in our business firm again.
11/23/2006
Prepared it in the morning earlier work. Took nigh three minutes to throw everything in and plow information technology on. When I got domicile that dark, I realized I didn't have any breadstuff, and so we used tortillas instead. Wrapped in tortillas tasted delicious. Used the remaining liquid to boil some cabbage and carrots over the stove. That took an additional 30 minutes. Thanks for a succulent recipe!
09/20/2009
This is the same recipe I have used for years BUT subsequently cooking I put it the refrigerator overnight. Just earlier serving I piece information technology (and it slices perfectly) and place it in a 13x9pan and comprehend information technology with one or 2 cups of the reserved cooking liquid for 30 minutes. This simply warms information technology and information technology tastes just like the best New York cafeteria meat.
09/xx/2009
Wonderful recipe. My only suggestion is to let the brisket cool completely before slicing. The cooler it is, the more it will slice nicely instead of shred. I usually melt it overnight, and then scrape the fatty off in the morning, roll in foil to go on it moist, and put information technology in the fridge. Then, in the evening, you can piece it super thin. Also, strain and save the broth to cook cabbage, potatoes, and carrots. To die for!!!
03/16/2008
I won't give this anything less than 5 stars because information technology was really tasty. I cooked it in a slow cooker for 9 hours total. I volition definitely get the slow cooker way from at present on. It was much better. It fell apart and was really juicy. I took the beef out of the liquid and put information technology in a foil covered bowl, then poured the liquid into a large pot. I cooked red potatoes, baby carrots & half of a carmine onion for fifteen mins in the liquid, then added a modest caput of cabbage (cutting into wedges) for another xv. Afterwards I tuckered the veggies, I tossed them with a bunch of fresh parsley and two T butter. But at that place'southward a bad: I've made corned beefiness without beer quite a few times and this time I decided to try it with a couple Guinness. What could be more flavorful than Guinness Stout? Well, I can tell you that it tasted nearly the same as when I make information technology with just water and the same seasoning. I couldn't tell I used beer. Next time I'll drink the Guinness on it's own and just use water.
10/24/2008
This is by far the best method of making corned beef I have ever used. I highly reccomend using the liquid left over to boil potatoes, onions, carrots and cabbage one the meat is removed. If y'all use a stout such as guiness you can brand a very unique and delicious gravy from some of the kiquid one the veggies are removed. I really put some of the liquid in a blender and toss in some carrots, onions, a few of the garlic cloves and some potato, then blend it into a slurry. Then just pour it into a sauce pan add some cornstarch/water mix and bring it to a boil. Information technology actually comes out quite phenomanal and is nothing anyone at your dinner table will accept tried before. Thanks for the excellent recipe!
03/18/2007
Made this for my Irish mother who loves corned beef more than any other meat. She was more than than a little worried about the amount of garlic and peppercorns. Her worries were totally unfounded, I didn't alter a matter and she is still raving about it.
09/24/2006
five stars aren't enough for this recipe. Friends who own a Deli came to visit and fell in love with this recipe. John asked for the recipe because he'south going to try serving it at his shop.
03/19/2011
I took the advice of the most helpful reviewer (naples34102) and did mine in the crockpot on low. Ten hours later and I had the best corned beefiness I have ever had. I was so impressed that I rushed out the very next day and purchased two more briskets so that we could take it again soon. The beer smell is pretty strong in the first couple of hours merely information technology eventually goes away so don't let it scare you off. No need to change a affair with this recipe.
02/08/2011
Very easy and tasty. I was a piffling worried almost "boiling" meat but, it was crawly. We had no left overs which is what I wanted and so I could make sandwiches. Definately a keeper.
08/06/2009
I am Not a corned beef person, merely this recipe inverse my opinion! I went from tasting corned beef mayhap once a yr on St. Patrick'southward Day to making this recipe once a calendar month. I layer it with the "cola sauerkraut" recipe,(also on this website), a slice of swiss, and some Thousand Island dressing on some deli rye. Crawly, awesome, awesome! Can't say enough not bad things about this recipe....you lot really have to effort it to believe information technology!
03/18/2013
I halved the recipe and used the crock-pot on low for 12 hours. The meat was so juicy and flavorful, fall apart tender...so astonishing that my husband said to run to the store and buy more corned beefiness while information technology is on sale. I don't call back nosotros'll e'er eat corned beefiness any other manner...and it was so easy. Made not bad sandwiches.
05/16/2012
Are you kidding. Throw out all the other recipes for corned beef. This makes killer sandwiches. Yous dont need to drive to Canters in LA or whatsoever other place that claims to sell the " Best " . This is the all-time. Don't go whatever further. Scooter Steve Utah Why is at that place not 6 stars?
09/07/2010
This is an exceptional recipe that offers everything you might want: ease of training and incredible outcome. I've used this recipe exclusively for nearly 3 years now just never bothered to rate it until I pulled it upwardly today to print for yet ANOTHER coworker who requested my "fabulous corned beef recipe". It really irked me to see the i star review by Jessica lament about a lack of seasoning considering this recipe (and corned beef in full general) is all about loads of seasoning and season! Did she use a plaing brisket instead of corned beefiness? She said she never made corned beef before and I wonder if she knew what to purchase. I strongly urge her to try the recipe over again and follow the directions exactly and she will accept a meltingly tender piece of meat to be proud of. If there werre more stars available I would scored this much higher than merely 5.
03/twenty/2012
The reviews saying it's amend to make this on the stove top rather than in a dull cooker are wrong. I make this every year for St. Paddy'southward twenty-four hour period, and every year my invite listing gets longer and longer considering more people want this corned beef. I year I fabricated two briskets side by side, ane on the stove meridian and one in the tedious cooker. Every invitee said the wearisome cooker brisket turned out much, much better. It fell autonomously, and tasted amazing. I follow this recipe to a "T," let information technology cook on low for at least 8 hours, and feed a dozen or so hungry friends. I use the left over liquid to apace cook some cabbage on the stove tiptop - and people tell me it'southward the best cabbage they've always had. This recipe is easily-down a winner. I shared it with my mom and now information technology's the only one she uses. Thank you lot so much for sharing!!!!!
09/20/2009
I fabricated this recipe following the directions as given, adding a 2 big sliced onions along with the garlic cloves. I placed the spice packet contents into a square of cheese fabric, along with the quarter cup + of peppercorns and the bayleaves to form a garnet. I cooked the corn beef (on the stove)using Guiness, until it pierced hands with a fork (I found cooking it longer, made information technology autumn apart almost two to 2 1/two hours) and nosotros like it sliced rathered than pulled. Afterward the meat was removed, I added potatoes, carrots and cooked til tender. Once the meat was cooled, I sliced thinly with an electrical knife. What was left, I stored in the refrigerator and made Reuben's using rye bread, Thousand Island Dressing, and Claussen's sauerkraut with slices of Swiss cheese. Then grilled the sandwiches until bread was prissy and toasty brown! 2 meals in one and and so some! Awesome! Definitely will make again and once more!
09/14/2009
this is the best corned beefiness I have ever eaten.
03/18/2007
I prepared this for a festive St. Paddy's Twenty-four hours gathering last dark, and non a speck left on the platter, and rave reviews! I prepared in the slow cooker, first two hours on high, last 6 or then on low. I added about ii 1/2 bottles of Harp, and added tiny potatos, carrots and cabbage right into the mix. Perfect! Sincere thanks, I'll be making this many more times.
04/twenty/2006
My married man said that the corned beef was even better than in some of the delis in NYC!
12/13/2009
And then succulent! I will never brand corned beef any other way. So ridiculously piece of cake too. I had about 5 minutes to spare earlier piece of work and I was somehow able to become this in the crockpot with everything and I still wasn't late for work. This doesn't have to exist for sandwiches only, I plan on using the leftovers for Reuben Soup (too on Allrecipes.com)
07/27/2006
I idea this was just fabulous! I put it all in the crockpot on low all day. Got home from work shredded it served information technology on the kaiser rolls as recommened with lots of red onions and spicy mustard! Oh yeah...made the coleslaw also. Very good meal.
01/05/2009
This is the nearly tender corned beefiness I take ever had...and the taste un real....I will make this over and over....Fantastic....Thanks for the recipe
03/14/2007
Agree with previous reviews that v stars aren't enough. Was leery near all that garlic, simply decided to follow recipe exactly and and then make modifications in the future if it was "close". Well, it hit the bullseye!! Family unit raved, and I'm making a double batch for our St. Paddy's go-together.
03/sixteen/2010
This recipe is awesome! Had it tonight for dinner and my BF loved information technology! The just thing I modify is this: take almost ane/4 loving cup of brown carbohydrate and rub it onto the brisket before putting it into the beer/water. This helps infuse a deep, rustic, rich flavor to the meat. It doesn't make it sweet. Cooked it in my wearisome cooker on low for eight hours, took it out and popped my potatoes, carrots, and cabbage in for about an 60 minutes/hour and a half. SO Practiced!
12/13/2010
I will concord that this is a tasty recipe. I followed the given recipe and everyone loved it. The reason I am rating this with only 3 stars is because of the gustation of the leftovers. The garlic flavor was so much stronger that information technology was unappealing. The texture of the meat was not appetizing. I ever make more I expect to serve for dinner because the leftovers make such delicious sandwiches. Such is not the example with this detail recipe.
03/17/2007
Succulent! I used 2 bottles of Guiness beer and beef broth instead of water to comprehend the brisket. It was perfect in exactly iii hours. While the meat was setting, I used the stock to boil some Yukon gold potatoes, fresh kale and gilded beets. I likewise made the "Irresistible Irish gaelic Soda Staff of life" and served that with the dinner. Absolutly perfect St. Patrick's Twenty-four hour period meal! Don't forget actress Guiness to drink with dinner. I am freezing the remaining stock because the beer and garlic season was fantastic.
03/26/2012
five-star rating - for sure! I fabricated this for our St. Patrick'due south meal, and we loved information technology. I fabricated with 1 corn beef brisket and added potatoes and cabbage. The director of the local liquor store helped me pick a beer (as I am Non a beer drinker). He said the local chefs used 'Samuel Smith'due south Nut Chocolate-brown Ale' to cook their briskets. I purchased 1 bottle and the flavor of the beer did non ruin the corn beef. You could slightly gustation information technology, but information technology was not offensive in this recipe. This recipe was so good that I went back after the 17th and purchased another brisket to have this recipe again. Thank you SDK999 for sharing your recipe.
01/25/2006
Fantastic, I did the entire thing in my crock pot. I wouldn't change a matter.
03/31/2007
ive never really been a big fan on corn beef, ran across this recipe, read the reviews, then decided to give a try. i did non utilize the bay leaves or peppercorn, but i placed in slowcooker for well-nigh 10 hours. used 24 ounze heiniken, i must say all twenty-four hours i was agape that the beer was fashion tooo much but when i first tried it i couldnt tell if i liked it, i kept picking like hmm hmmm, and then the next day i fabricated sandwiches used cornbeef, provolone, topped with just enough grand islands sauce. it was outta this world. now im going to exist making every couple of months, cheers soo much for sharing :)
01/eleven/2007
The all-time dwelling house-cooked corned beef I've ever tasted. Made it for the OSU game and information technology was the best thing that happened that nighttime.
12/ten/2007
PERFECT!!! I just LOVE this recipe and and then does my husband. I cook this all day on low in the crockpot and it comes out perfectly each and every fourth dimension. This last time, I put it in the crockpot before bed and x hours later it was beautiful! I wouldn't change a thing. The seasoning is great and and so is the beer. Thank y'all for this recipe post. This is my 5th time cooking corned beef this way, and I have no desire to make it any other manner. It is admittedly wonderful alone or on sandwiches and my husband just RAVES everytime I prepare this. Try information technology with some sweet coleslaw on sandwiches or alone served with fried cabbage!! Job well done, SDK999.
07/17/2014
My hubby has awarded this the BEST corned beef sandwich EVER and he has tried corned beefiness all over town! What started as a trip to our local deli for a corned beefiness sandwich and found that they were closed turned into a trip to the grocery shop and to this site. I am a newbie to corned beef and had NO thought where to get-go. This recipe was easy and the best! My hubby thinks I slaved in the kitchen all twenty-four hour period preparing this.....I am not sure I will tell him otherwise :)
01/27/2006
This was excellent - I only had one corned beef, so I halved the recipe. The flavors were great - nosotros but had enough meat left over for 1 sandwich the adjacent day - I will definitely utilise 2 corned beefs next time!
02/21/2009
Very Good! I used a 2lb corn beefiness, one spice packet, an entire 16 oz of beer (my married man got carried away)cooked for 3.5 hours. Was succulent and flavorful. I thought my married man had ruined it using all that beer only he didn't. Just a annotation: Neither of us like or drinkable beer.
eleven/18/2011
This is the Best Corned Beef recipe! Made equally instructed and had the moistest, tenderest and flavorful corned beefiness. Stove tiptop by far is better than a slowcooker for this cutting of meat and the improver of garlic was brilliant, information technology added fifty-fifty more awesome flavor. Use a make of beer you like, it doesn't matter light or nighttime only every bit long every bit you like information technology. Don't worry near trimming the corned beef either because afterwards you cook it you can but scrap away the excess fat without whatever attempt at all.
01/29/2012
This is a fantastic recipe. I omit the water and put in a ho-hum cooker for around ix hours on low. Melts in your oral fissure. Perfect for corned beef sammies on rye.
06/14/2009
This recipe is easy and the results are wonderful. I brought these sandwiches to a political party and they were gone in no time at all. I considering putting g island dressing or mustard on the sandwiches, but after tasting the meat I decided against it. The corn beef was and then tasty that any condiment would but have distracted from the great taste of the corned beef.
03/xviii/2013
I made this for St. Patrick'south Day and this was one of the virtually delicious meals I take ever fabricated! I, too, cooked it in my slow cooker on high for 8 hours and then added carrots and potatoes to the boring cooker subsequently removing the meat. Very flavorful!
01/11/2007
I love corned beefiness but my family merely thinks information technology's so-so. This recipes finally got usa all on the aforementioned page!!! I did everything exactly as written and it was fantastic. We had the sandwiches this weekend and my kids were still asking for more on MOnday. Next time I am going to brand iii briskets.
03/18/2014
I made this yesterday for St. Patty's Day. I was a little nervous because I had never cooked corned beef before and I wanted to serve my family Reuben sandwiches. I followed the recipe to the tee and let me tell you it did not let me downwards. I cooked 2(3)lbs corned beef briskets and I am proud to say there is absolutely NO left overs. This recipe is definitely a ten in my volume. DH asked me end past the Grocer today to pick upwards another corned beefiness while they are still on sale. Thank you for sharing this fabulous recipe
03/22/2009
Delicious & uncomplicated! My start effort at corned beefiness & I'one thousand glad I chose this recipe, tho' I did use the crockpot (1st hour on loftier). I used Guiness Actress Stout; it was worth the $1.50 for a bottle, as it added a distinct flavor. Halving the spice package is a adept thought if eating the beef fresh & warm. I used a whole pkt. for One iii lb. point-cut; the gustation of information technology & one/2 seedling (smashed) garlic cloves was a niggling likewise strong while steaming hot. The next solar day, tho', the season had mellowed & was perfect. It was also VERY easy to slice thinly after refrigeration. I cooked the wedges of cabbage, onion, potato quarters, & carrot chunks in the flavorful liquid the last 2 hours. I likewise thickened slightly about 3 c. of cooking liquid with a slurry of about 2+ Tblsp. of cornstarch stirred with 2 Tbsp. water - succulent! No need to waste that flavorful liquid!
03/19/2013
I threw everything in a slow cooker and cooked on depression for six hours, then high for two hours. I did both packets of spices (not merely i) and served it on garlic toasted bread with the juices in a dipping bowl on the side. It was absolutely amazing! I'll definitely exist making this again!
03/17/2014
It is true. Look no further. Offset fourth dimension always and this corned beef plough out perfect. I used a crock pot and cooked on low for 9 hours. Amazing!
11/22/2006
My picky family (and I) only loved this. Made it on game day and the iii briskets just disappeared. Thank you!
03/02/2007
So easy and delicious! Fifty-fifty my little ones wanted more since it isn't as salty every bit store-bought corned beef. This one will be stored in my home cookbook where only the all-time recipes go!!
10/09/2014
All-time corned beefiness ever! Use all the ingredients as noted and merely put in a crock pot on low for 10 hours - perfect every time!
03/09/2013
I've been making this recipe for years..... it's absolutely the best and easiest way to make corned beef. My only annotate... use a full bodied beer, non lite. You want the beer season. Guinness is slap-up, but whatever medium to dark beer will work. I always double the recipe, it goes actually fast and I want some leftovers!
03/17/2008
This recipe is abolutely amazin. I left out the bay leaves (didn't have them) used a whole head of garlic and a pocket-size handfull of peppercorns along with the 2 bottles of Guiness and put all of this in the deadening cooker on low for 10 hours. It was simply falling autonomously it was so tender and the gustation was but astonishing! I can't believe I used to merely boil corned beefiness in water. I then took all the juices left in the deadening cooker and put it into a pot on the stove and added the carrots and the potatoes and cabbage to information technology. I also had to add together 2 cans of chicken broth (didn't have beef broth) to brand more than liquid to cover the veggies. They came out so flavorful they didn't fifty-fifty demand butter on them! Honest!! I will definately make this once again and also tell everyone I know how to brand the most amazing corned beef they have always had in their whole life!!
03/16/2009
This was the best corned beefiness I accept ever had! So tender. I cooked a i.5 pound brisket in my 2qt crockpot for x hours on low. The terminal 30 mins I added cabbage. I used Ultra Light beer since that is what I had on mitt, and the season was to dice for. I fabricated this with the Like shooting fish in a barrel Irish Soda Bread and it was a big hit!
09/20/2009
Easy recipe, groovy results. I smoke the briskit for 1 or two hours before doing this recipe in the crockpot or dutch oven over very low estrus. History gives differing accounts on corned beefs beginnings, merely its well known equally an Irish gaelic Dish, and as well most jewish deli's fix and serve this also. Who really cares....Its great food!!!!
03/12/2007
our local cafeteria just lost customers for their corned beef sandwiches. This corned beef had a wonderful flavour and was and then tender. Thanks for submitting
03/22/2013
This has been my tried and true recipe for several years and I made the mistake of trying the Braised Corned Beefiness Recipe for our family repast. Big MISTAKE! I intend to quit experimenting and use this recipe from now on. I have never had information technology plow out tough or tasteless like the baked version did, and my family unit was in rebellion. I am only glad I bought extra corned beef while it was on sale and nosotros were able to accept the good stuff (this recipe) and I redeemed myself for the family. This recipe needs absolutely NO CHANGES! It comes out perfect every time whether I make it just for sandwiches or utilize the broth to cook the vegetables and have a full corned beef dinner. Thank yous thanks cheers!
03/14/2007
Have been testing recipes for large fustigate on Saint Patty'south day. I don't have to go any further...information technology's the all-time!
05/05/2013
Astonishing every time! I follow the recipe to the letter of the alphabet and comes out wonderful each and every time. Cheers for sharing!
06/25/2014
Used this for making Rueben'due south and information technology fabricated the best Rueben'southward we ever had. Great recipe!
03/24/2009
I used this recipe for Reuben sandwiches and fabricated homemade Thousand Island dressing and these were better than any eating place Reuben I've ever had. Excellent and easy!
01/19/2008
Since I can't charge per unit this more 5 stars I'll rate it here. ********** 10 stars. I made this for New year's day exactly as called for. Later I took out the corned beef I added carrots, ruby potatoes and cabbage and cooked for about an hr. It was VERY good. I made leftover packets for work and information technology was even amend the next several days. I gave some to my dad and he said he ate every speck. Cheers for a great recipe, I'thousand making information technology over again today.
03/09/2009
I honey this recipe. Where I alive, I accept never seen a corned beefiness brisket with a spice packet. I can't fit two corned beefiness briskets in my crockpot then I make 1 at a time, every bit written, without the spice packet and with four cloves of garlic rather than a whole bulb. I but permit the brisket cook the whole day on depression, and the results are spectacular! I probably make this one time a month. I make reubens out of it the first twenty-four hours, then make corned beefiness hash out of the leftovers. Can't say enough about how much we savor this! Thanks a bunch!
06/23/2009
perfect! i tin can't await to make it again! (and once again, and again...)
03/15/2009
Made this yesterday and it was sooo good. Couldn't fit both briskets in my crock pot, then I did ane on the stove on medium-low (closer to depression) heat for approx. v 1/2 hours, the other in the crock for about 10 hours. Used Guinness beer, a little water and some beef broth, ii bay leaves in each, white and black peppercorns, divided a spice parcel between them and a bulb and 1/ii of garlic, evenly divided. I did press a few of the cloves. I had never cooked corned beef before so I was a bit nervous, as we were taking this to a gathering of friends....well they both turned out great, tender and so tasty. The i from the crock pot was a little more tender, just just barely. Then added quite a bit of the cooking juices to a pot of veggies (red potatoes, parsnips, turnips, baby carrots) forth with some water.....afterward used the juices with chicken goop and butter for the cabbage. It was a dandy success....simple Irish soda staff of life with Kerrygold Irish butter completed it beautifully.
03/17/2012
ths is fantabulous! i fabricated these the day earlier st. paddy's day and followed the diections except lowering the cooking time to @ 6 hours on depression in a slowcooker. i made reubens with these with some rye staff of life and seriously tweaked tater salad. i will non non make cornbeef whatever other way. just superb!
01/02/2008
I too wish nosotros could give more than than 5 stars. This was a BIG hit at my New year's day'due south party and I only wish I had doubled or even tripled information technology because it would of all disappeared. The person who said her cabbage turned out bitter might of added information technology at the commencement and caused the cabbage to cook too long. That has happaned to me using other recipes so I don't call up it'southward the error of this one. Adept food is my life!!!
05/05/2012
WOW! That's all I can say most this recipe. Super simple, and information technology is the BEST corned beefiness recipe hands downwardly. Followed the directions exactly, except I used about vi-8 cloves of garlic and not the whole seedling. At that place is no other recipe I volition use on St. Patrick'southward Day always once more!
07/sixteen/2014
I rarely make corned beefiness because they usually turn out tough or stringy, but a local shop had brisket on auction for 50% off, so I decided to try 1 more time to cook one. After making this recipe, I sent my married man to buy three-iv more than before the sale ends! The meat was tender and delicious! I used a bottle of Guinness Extra Stout and poured the spice pack into a cheesecloth bag and added them to the crock pot with the brisket. I also roasted the whole seedling of garlic in the oven for approximately xxx mins earlier adding it to the crock pot and cooking information technology all for almost ten hours on Low. We loved the meat on ruebens terminal night and I'chiliad certain we will love the hash I brand with the leftover brisket in the morning time! Thanks and then much for the wonderful recipe and restoring my organized religion in brisket made at home!
06/02/2009
Excellent! I've made this several times in the crock pot and also on the stove top. Garlic peeling tip: Soak separated cloves in water for about one/2 hour and the skin peels off easily (snip the stem end off and pare downwardly).

This is a great recipe. I oasis't cooked corned beef in xv years, much to my Irish gaelic husband'southward dismay. You need to purchase the better cut of corned beef. I started with four lbs and I rinsed it off, and threw away the spice package that came with it. Put information technology in my large crockpot with a can of cheap Budweiser, a bay leaf, a heaping tablespoon of chopped garlic, and 1/4 cup of peppercorns pretty much equally instructed. Cooked on loftier till it started simmering, thn put on low. Turned the meat over periodically....probably for 8 hrs or so. Added cut upwards onions, carrots and potatoes. Afterwards 45 min added some cabbage. Ended up having to transfer to oven to consummate cooking ...my fault. One time everything was cooked, Transferred all the goodies to another dish to keep warm and followed another reviewer'southward recommendation and made some gravy with the juices, calculation extra h2o and a mix of h2o and corn starch. The only matter I'd do differently next time is to put the peppercorns in a couple of sections of cheesecloth. They add together great season but I don't like eating them. Think I'll exist doing this recipe again this calendar week for the real St. Paddy'southward Day!!

I took the freedom of changing the recipe only a little, just a few minor adjustments. No beer... I put a 4 pound brisket into a deadening cooker that is similar in shape to a small-scale roaster. I put the fat side up and added the season bundle to the fatty and rubbed/patted it on. I and then added the water (approx ane gallon) so the beef was covered just the fat was non submerged. I added 3 minor bay leaves, 1/8 cups pepper corns, 4 crushed/minced garlic cloves and a table spoon of beef bullion and Cajun spices to the fat. Set up the cooker on low (175 degrees) and cooked for 24 hours (covered). I didn't add whatsoever additional h2o subsequently the cooking process began. When removed from the tedious cooker and used a butter knife to remove the fatty, then I let it cool for about an hour. (cool plenty to handle) I take a cafeteria slicer... I cut the brisket in one-half then that I have I good surface for the slicing car. I started the slicing procedure and information technology was so tender it just fell apart. It ended upward looking more than like pulled pork than dejeuner meat. Serving: Lightly browned then hearty rye in a skillet with unsalted butter. Spread horseradish sauce to the bottom slice, add some provolone cheese, and so stack the meat, add sauerkraut, then chiliad island dressing, then your pinnacle slice of rye. This was the all-time Ruben ever...

I made this tonite and it was a smash hit. Words cannot express just how yummy it was. The only thing that I added was a one-half more than bulb of garlic (the bulbs were small-scale), and since I made 8 lbs in a roaster oven, I added a regular size can of beef broth to make certain I had plenty liquid. Information technology was so good and information technology melted in our mouths! The seasonings and beer were perfect in this recipe. I sliced up the brisket and made some hearty reuben sandwiches.Cheers and then much for sharing this recipe! I had saved it for future use.

This is but as skilful and even moister than cafeteria style.

I too wish I could give this more than 5 stars! There is just two of us, then only fabricated one corned beef, just did use full amount of all other ingredients (beer, garlic etc) wearisome cooked in a crock pot for about nine hours and it turned out perfect. I did have leftovers (which seems similar an anomaly with this recipe) and they reheat to be just as proficient every bit they original, simply remember to add some of the sauce to store the meat it and information technology seems to soak up even more than flavor!

This was the first time I always made corned beef. The flavor was groovy and the meat was very tender. I simply made i brisket because there were simply two of us, and I got a lot of mileage out of it. The beginning night I made potatoes, cabbage and carrots in the broth and served it with the hot corned beef. I wasn't crazy most the vegetables washed this manner. The adjacent night I fabricated corned beef hash with poached eggs on peak and it was excellent. Finally, we finished up with sandwiches of corned beef, cole slaw and Russian dressing on rye. I did them panini style and they were And then skilful. I'm getting hungry for them once more as I write this.

This recipe rates more than 5 stars.I cooked a three.7 lb of flat brisket in my tiresome cooker from 6:30 am to 4:xxx pm on depression and used 2 cans of Alpine beer plus two cups of water to cover information technology with almost an inch higher up the meat. I added the peppercorns, garlic plus the spice parcel. I let the meat sit for about 20 mins before slicing and it was wonderful. I strained some of the liquid into my dutch oven and used it to cook my vegetablse. I used small red potatoes unpeeled, baby carrots and after about xv mins of these cooking I added my cabbage which was cut into wedges. My family who were here for dinner agreed it was the best corned beef dinner they take ever had. Thanks once more All Recipes for another " favorite ".

This is my get-to recipe for St. Paddy'south Day and is always a crowd pleaser. I highly recommend using Guinness (cans are highly preferred to bottles b/c of the widget inside that keeps it well mixed - 1 tin per three lb. brisket), and as well recommend tripling the amount of garlic per brisket - it really helps with the overall flavour. I as well melt in the crockpot for nearly 8 to 10 hours over low estrus. Serve with a really not bad rye bread (Oroweat has a actually squeamish Dill Rye) that pairs well to bring out the flavors. So like shooting fish in a barrel to practise - simply make sure you buy a good quality brisket :)
